Charles Messier (1730-1817) was a French astronomer intrigued by
comets. Using the tools available to him at the time he spent most of
his life in the search for comets. During the search he would often
find a comet candidate only to discover, after careful observations, that
the object did not move as a comet would. These items were compiled
and catalogued so that he, as well as other comet seekers, could quickly
determine if what they observed was a real comet candidate or not. The
Messier list contains 110 objects which are popular targets for
observation by amateur astronomers. Hope you enjoy my photographs of
Messier Objects.
